Idle Architecture Studio is a recently established practice which evolved after the dissolution of
Neil + Idle Architects in late 2005.

Chris Idle, the director, has over 12 years of experience in the design and construction industry.
He has worked on a range of small, medium and large scale projects, and has been responsible for a range of high quality buildings, mainly focused on the areas of residential, commercial and institutional architecture. Chris possesses a wide range of skills and experience in all aspects of the design process, and is supported by a growing team of staff and consultants.

Previous to establishing Idle Architecture Studio, Chris acted as a co-director of Neil + Idle Architects, a company he founded in 1998 with Cameron Neil. The company was well recognised for its strong design focus, and stimulating use of form, materiality and colour. Neil + Idle was responsible for a wide range of innovative and highly successful projects, many of which received professional awards, both from the building industry and the RAIA. They received an RAIA award for their own office building in Richmond, as well as a commendation for a highly detailed multi-residential project in Fitzroy. Their work was also widely published in such magazines as Monument, Architectural Review & wallpaper™.
